Automatic Scalpel is the creative crux of Jared Lynch, a multimedia storyteller, soundmaker, and bookmaker currently based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He mostly writes cerebral horror and dark sci-fi, but also drifts into surreal absurdity, analysis, creative nonfiction, and mixed media. He lives in your basement. He is often aloof. He has no sense of humor.

The term Automatic Scalpel refers to the creative process, with automatic being the ideation, drafting, and creation of a project, and scalpel embodying editing and refining. The blades on some of these scalpels are sharper than others. We won’t tell you which, so mind your minds.
